Can I do NTT after graduation?
Yes. Graduates in any subject can take a PG Diploma in Nursery Teacher Training. At APTTI it takes 240 hours over 12 months online and costs ₹30,000 + GST (USD 475). Graduates do not need the Diploma first. The PG Diploma goes deeper into curriculum planning, assessment and leading early-years practice.
What this means in practice
Many graduates move into nursery teaching after another career or after having children. A PG Diploma matches their education level and is often preferred by larger schools and international employers, together with a degree.
Who the PG Diploma suits
- Graduates starting a teaching career
- Teachers moving from primary or secondary to the early years
- Coordinators and playschool owners
- Graduates planning to teach in the Gulf or abroad
Other options for graduates
The Pre-Primary PG Diploma, Montessori PG Diploma and ECCE PG Diploma follow the same structure. APTTI's Integrated PG Diploma in Pre-Primary Teacher Training (480 hours, 18 months, ₹35,000 + GST) is the longest option, and the International Teaching Diploma's PG level (360 hours, 18 months) suits those already teaching.
Making the most of a PG Diploma
Use your degree subject in your teaching: science graduates can lead nature and experiment activities, language graduates storytelling and drama, commerce graduates counting and shop play.
Take on a project during your course, such as designing a theme unit, setting up a reading corner or running a parents' workshop, and record it for your portfolio. Graduates with a PG Diploma are often considered for coordinator roles after a few years.
What to do next
- Choose between NTT, Montessori, ECCE or Pre-Primary focus.
- Keep your degree certificate ready for the application.
- Plan around 5 hours a week of study.
What to keep in mind
A PG Diploma is not a master's degree. Use the exact title on your CV.
