Is an online Montessori teacher training certificate recognised?
An online Montessori certificate from a private institute is a private professional qualification. Many private Montessori schools and preschools accept it. It is different from training by the Association Montessori Internationale (AMI) or similar bodies, which some Montessori schools specifically require. It is not accepted for Indian government recruitment.
What this means in practice
"Montessori" is not a protected title in most countries, so courses vary widely. Schools that follow strict Montessori practice may ask for training from a particular association; others value general Montessori-informed early-years training.
Questions to ask a Montessori school
- Which Montessori training do you accept?
- Do you require training for a specific age band (0-3, 3-6)?
- Do you offer in-house training?
APTTI's Montessori course
APTTI offers Montessori Teacher Training at Certificate (10th, 120 hours, ₹10,000 + GST), Diploma (12th, 200 hours, ₹20,000 + GST) and PG Diploma (graduation, 240 hours, ₹30,000 + GST), with lesson planning and applied assignments.
Montessori age bands
Montessori training is often organised by age: 0 to 3 (infant and toddler), 3 to 6 (Children's House) and 6 to 12 (elementary). Most preschool Montessori work is in the 3 to 6 band, which matches nursery and kindergarten classes.
What to do next
- Ask target schools what they accept.
- Compare courses on practice and materials coverage.
- Choose accordingly.
What to keep in mind
If you want to work in an AMI-accredited school, check that school's requirements first.
